Taylor Swift concert breaks Levi’s Stadium curfew

SANTA CLARA – Will the city of Santa Clara shake it off?

On Friday, Taylor Swift’s concert at Levi’s Stadium ran past the venue’s 11 p.m. curfew.

In 2021, the City Council voted 4-3 to allow 11 p.m. weeknight concerts five weeknights a year. But curfew for Friday and weekend shows has always been 11 p.m.

Friday marked the first of two sold-out shows at Levi’s, and Swift’s first appearance at the venue in five years. About 58,000 people attended the show.

The Eras Tour is supporting not just one, but four albums, which meant Swift had a lot of ground to cover during the show. And she wouldn’t be able to cover it in the allotted time.

Swift started her set around 8:10 p.m., which seemed to spell trouble from the start, given that she has been playing three-hour-plus shows on the tour. She followed Gracie Abrams and Haim, a group Swift later referred to from the stage as her “favorite band.”
